Roofing Systems We Work With

Every roof type has different strengths in Florida’s heat, humidity, and storm season. Here’s how the main options compare.

Metal Roofing

Metal roofing has become one of the most requested upgrades for Tampa Bay homes, and for good reason. A properly installed metal roof can handle high winds better than most other materials, reflects heat instead of absorbing it (which helps with summer cooling costs), and typically lasts decades longer than asphalt shingles. Standing-seam panels are the most common residential style, with a clean, modern look that holds up well against salt air near the coast.

Tile Roofing

Clay and concrete tile are everywhere in Florida for a reason – they’re built for this climate. Tile resists sun damage, holds up to wind-driven rain, and gives a home the classic Florida look that holds its value. Tile roofs need a different repair approach than shingles (individual tiles can often be replaced without redoing the whole roof), so it matters that whoever works on yours actually knows tile.

Shingle Roofing

Asphalt shingles remain the most common roofing material for a reason: they’re reliable, cost-effective, and come in a wide range of styles and colors. Architectural (dimensional) shingles are the standard choice today, offering better wind resistance and a longer lifespan than older three-tab shingles. A well-installed shingle roof is a solid, budget-friendly option for most Tampa Bay homes.

Flat & Low-Slope Roofing (TPO)

Flat and low-slope roofs are common on additions, commercial buildings, and some modern homes. TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) membrane is the industry standard for these roofs today – it’s heat-reflective, resistant to UV damage and ponding water, and welds into a seamless waterproof surface. For commercial properties especially, a properly installed and maintained TPO system is one of the most cost-effective ways to protect a flat roof long-term.
